New Bankruptcy Law Secrets

Credit Card Debt and Bankruptcy

You're about to file your bankruptcy with the court. You're resigned to it and have your plans made. Why not make a few last minute purchases with your credit cards? The debts will soon be wiped out so why not pick up a few items you need?

Don't do it. I know - it's very tempting. For some months now you've been severely limiting your spending so it's only human nature to want to go on a last minute shopping splurge. It might seem like righteous punishment for those nasty jerks down at the credit card bank.

If you make last minute purchases you can depend that the court will disallow them. So after your bankruptcy has been discharged and all your other debts are gone, these last minute purchases will still be there.

And if you lie about these rushed purchases and get caught, you might actually jeopardize the whole process and end up barred from getting all your other debts discharged! Bottom line: Put away the plastic.

If you're ever going to be honest in your life, now is the time. The bankruptcy court has very little patience for those who would deceive.
